1. The procedure of IT8212鈥?hot swap function is as follows:

Power off the HD

Plug out the HD
猫
Plug in a HD
猫
Power on the HD
2. During the hot swapping procedure, IT8212 is trying to implement hardware
reset command to HD through the Reset# signal on IDE cable.
3. After the hardware reset command is implemented to HD, IT8212 will get some
expectable information from HD then check each HD鈥?status based on it.

4. If there is no Reset# signal on IDE cable, IT8212 can鈥?reset HD successfully

in the hot swapping procedure and it may fail to perform IT8212鈥?hot swap
s
function and make the system abnormal.
5. Therefore, the Reset# signal on IDE cable is required while customers are
implementing IT8212鈥?hot swap function.
